Ella's Dining Room and Suds on the Green with the Grub Groupie

Saturday, September 22 – Ella’s Dining Room and Bar at 12th and K finally opens at the old location of Marilyn’s. When I spoke to Randall Selland, the proud owner of the restaurant, (and grandfather of Ella, after whom the restaurant was named) he mentioned that barring unforeseen circumstances it would actually open at this time. Apparently the restaurant is going to be quite spectacular, with large amounts of Carrera Marble, Belgium Blue Stone and over 150 feet of fine drapery. The open kitchen will look upon a dining room that will feature several large social tables, and that essentially describes the focal point of the establishment. He mentioned the lack of TV’s and the large tables as the evidence of the emphasis on social interaction, which will further be promoted by the use of small dishes to share, as well as a menu that will feature most items a-la carte. Randall wanted to make “dining fun and a social event”. The menu will mirror a lot of what his flagship restaurant “The Kitchen” (http://www.thekitchenrestaurant.com/) offers, only made simpler and easier, also featuring locally grown and organic products.

And finally, also on Saturday, September 22 from 2-6 pm Suds on the Green will be happening in William Land Park.
Using the “excuse” to watch the local golf team play, they will offer $18 tickets for unlimited sampling ($20 day of event). This event benefits “The First Tee”, an organization that provides young people of all backgrounds an opportunity to develop life-enhancing values such as confidence, perseverance and judgment through golf and character education.
