What are some regional wineries that you’ve visited and what was your experience?

“My favorite wineries are located in Fair Play, CA. Charles Mitchell is definitely the best all around. The wine is fabulous, the people kind, and Mr. Mitchell is a crazy little French man who only adds to the experience. If you go remember to pack a picnic and enjoy the beautiful oak trees in front of the tasting rooms.
I have visited the Bogle Winery in Clarksburg, and I love it. They are very friendly and the wine there is some of the best coming out of the region at their price point. It is reasonably priced and very good quality.”

“I have several wineries I enjoy. Young’s in Amador has some of the best reds, but they sell out early. The winery is a warm inviting place with dogs laying around. Last year there was a rare rooster walking in and out of the winery! I enjoy the Lucas winery in Lodi, David, the winemaker is almost always there to greet you and answer questions. Last, if you have never experienced it, you should go to Frazinetti winery off Florin Rd, they allow you to taste almost everything they have. The rare old port is wonderful! The restaraunt is very good as well.”

” I always love travelling to the Sonoma region. Not only are the wineries fantastic, but the drive itself through the vineyards is great. I find it relaxing, but I’ve also been to our local spots….and that was pretty good too. It’s great that we have so many to chose from now…and my experience at Bogle and Carvalho Family wineries was really great. Carvalho has a great Chenin Blanc, but I preferred the Pinot Grigio.”

“Most recently Carvalho winery at the Clarksburg Sugar Mill - great experience.
Passport Weekend at all the El Dorado wineries - FABULOUS”

“I just visited the Bogle Winery last weekend. It was my first visit and I was pleasantly surprised by this tucked away treasure in the Sacramento Delta. The wines were very good and the staff most helpful during the tasting.”

“I love tasting wines regionally (Fairplay, Amador, Placerville) - the people are always so nice and most of the time there’s no charge to taste! Most recently I did the Fairplay Wine & Poker Run, stopping at Chateau Routon, Barkley Homestead, Gold Note, Sierra Vista, and Toogood. What a fun day! Toogood is one of my recent favorites with an amazing selection of red wines. Plus, their tasting room is in the wine caves so it stays nice and cool in there. Chateau Routon had a couple wonderful ports and the owner poured it over her homemade vanilla ice cream (YUM). There’s so much up there, you won’t be disappointed just hopping in the car and picking them at random. ”

“I have visited many regional wineries. My boyfriend is a winemaker at David Girard Vineyards in El Dorado County, so we get out wine tasting pretty often. I particularly enjoyed wine tasting in Lodi, which far exceeded my expectations! I have to say I am still partial to the El Dorado wines, though. My favorite are Holly’s Hill and of course DGV.”

When was your last trip to a local museum and what did you see?

“The last exhibit I saw was the Hearst Castle exhibit at the California Museum. It was a really cool exhibit, but it made me want to visit the real thing again!”

“My last trip was to the Crocker Art Musuem to see the women of california exhibit sponsored by Ms. Maria Schriver. I cant remember exactly what it was titled, it has been so long, but it was really interesting to see all the women who have shaped the history of California and how little I knew about them.”

“I went to the museum of fine arts in SF. It is a beautiful building in a great area. I got to experience the exhibits. It is an adventure and fun everytime you go.”

“The last museum I visited was the Crocker Art Museum for the Ansel Adams/Georgia O’Keefe exhibit. I viewed several dozen pictures from their trip to Yosemite over 65 years ago. There were many wonderful black and white scenery and portrait photos to view. I really enjoyed the scenery photos of Yosemite.”

“My daughter and I went to Crocker Art Museum a couple of months ago and viewed the Ansel Adams collection, as well as the other existing art pieces in the different gallery rooms. The Ansel Adams exhibit was well organized and I enjoyed introducing my daughter to his work. It’s always a good thing when Sacramento can offer these types of events, if only to not have to go into S.F. for a museum visit. I think there was wide support for this event, so I think it just proves that if you ‘bring it, they will come’….”

“Funny enough the last Museum I visited was the Louvre in Paris, France. A good friend of mine and I went on a Da Vinci Code tour. We planned it before we arrived and everything was so amazing. We used the Da Vinci Code book to help guide our experience through out all of our sites in Paris. We visited San Sulpice and touched the rose line, we walked down the Champ Elysees where they raced for their lives in there get away car, and we hunted down all of the famous paintings in the Louvre. It was an experience I’ll never forget! ”
