The good news is that the Court decided18,000+ married couples would remain married ........ gotta love that!! ..... I think that will be of help in higher Courts decisions and clarify “discrimination and equality” which is really what this matter is about.  So all of us who DID NOT support Prop. 8 might revel in that aspect as a “good middle start moving forward!!!”  Sadly, the California Supreme Court decision to uphold Prop. 8 reminded me “this is what women must have felt like in the beginning of the suffrage movement when they lost their right to personhood and to vote, again and again.”  We (women) are still working to have “equal rights”, (equal pay for equal work, abortion rights, stop rape & abuse) and the equality of all is still in waiting.  When one, or any of us is oppressed, we are all oppressed ..... the chain of oppression is vigilant, violent and must not be victorious.  We can put a man and woman on the moon, but we can’t get over our prejudices, how sad and what a cultural shame and embarrassment.  Generations will look back and shake their heads at our inept social inequity.  In the future, “Star Track” will be a reality, and all kinds of beings will hopefully be living and loving in harmony together understanding a higher and greater form of consciousness.  Let’s not have to wait that long.  I have said for many years our government to not allow people “in love” to marry – or to intrude on our “privacy” is unconstitutionalA friend who opposes gay marriage and I had an interesting conversation.  He said marriage is between a man and a woman and “that’s the way it is, has been and should stay.”  So when I asked him “why”, which I know always annoys him!!!!!, he said “procreation”.  After I stopped laughing I said, “Well I’m a straight woman, never wanted to procreate – you are not a father but you are married, does that mean I should never be legally married and since you are never going to be a father you should you get an annulment?”   ...... well that pissed him off, but so what!  Get over it ........ if we stay with the “traditional status quo” only the people with rights will continue to have them and the rest of us will suffer.  “Change” ...... the winning issue why President Obama won his campaign and an ideal that change for justice, for equality and for everyone is the “right” thing to do.  To argue otherwise is utter nonsense ....... which makes for an interesting debate and cracks me up.  Please continue to educate your sphere of influence ......... or one day “they will pick on you” and then who will you turn too?

Dr. George Tiller (1941-2009)... His lifelong dedication to women’s reproductive health services will be remembered as he was recently murdered in Wichita, Kansas while attending services at his church.  He will be honored as a courageous pioneer for women’s abortion rights and provided late term abortions ..... also Wichita, Kansas where “Dorothy & Toto” were forced to move because it is one of the places in the country where anti-abortion zealots are still in strong force and doctors travel from other states to perform abortions!   You can surf the internet under his name to learn more and also please consider giving a $$ donation to Planned Parenthood, NARAL or other pro-choice organizations so our work for future generations will continue.

Sadly, just so you know how important the issue remains, here’s a website with anti’s comments about Dr. Tiller’s murder:
