Building Our Community -
Laying the Foundation for Our Future __________________________ The Lambda Community Fund opened the Lambda Community Center in August of 1986. The Center has served as a focal point for the LGBTQI community ever since. It is a symbol of our strength and a rallying point in times of crisis. The Center serves as the corporate headquarters for the Lambda Community Fund and houses many other programs. The Center is at the heart of Sacramento's LGBTQI community.
Lambda Community Center cordially invites you to attend the 2006 Sacramento Pride Parade and Fair. This year's event will span three days, with most of the action taking place on Saturday, June 10, 2006, with the Parade from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. and the Fair from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Held annually in June at the Southside Park in Downtown Sacramento, Sacramento Pride incorporates a diverse community of people and community organizations who share the common purpose of celebrating our history and achieving equal rights for all people. With vendors, booths, top-notch entertainment, and a sumptuous food court offering cuisine from a variety of different cultures, it is an event that creates memories of laughter, shared joy, and pride. Sacramento Pride was founded in 1984 to bring about awareness and recognition for the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender (LGBT) and supporting community's need to celebrate its history. From its humble beginnings as a very small event consisting of a picnic in a local community park, the event has grown to an attendance of 6,000 to 8,000 people in 2005. Sacramento Pride is produced by the Lambda Community Center, whose slogan is "Building our community, laying the foundation for our future." This event is Lambda's major fund-raising event of the year, and it helps to support the many programs and services provided by the center. June10th |
