Mason's Restaurant

Hands down, this is my favorite restaurant in Sac. Even though so many other great restaurants have opened, I always end up coming back to Mason's. I particularly like their duck and fish entrees--they are usually prepared in creative ways depending on the season.

The Cook, The Thief, His Wife, and Her Lover is what came to mind as we were seated in the dining room. The great expanses of stainless steel set off by dark woods lends to a bit of a sterile feel. I found a Cote du Rhone on the list for under $30! A steal that was quite tasty. I was especially taken aback at the skill of our server. He was relaxed and easy, but very professional. Unfortunately, all of the food that was presented to our table was inedible. To add insult to injury, when the person who appeared to be in charge of the kitchen that night stepped on to the floor he was smacking on a piece of gum. Bad form.
