best wine bar in sac

by christinahn, Monday 13 of October, 2008 (20:10:21)

Whenever I have guests in town, I always take them to 58 Degrees. I think the ambience in the bar area is so warm and cozy, and the wine selection cannot be beat. I can spend hours in the wine store alone.  The steak and brie sandwich is amazing, but it's not always on the menu.

Best for Sunday Funday!

by ceraggio01, Monday 13 of October, 2008 (18:01:07)

There's many reasons to love 58 Degrees, including the eclectic wine selection and fantastic food, but the best reason is no-corkage Sundays.  You can get some great wine, have some yummy food, and not break the bank (unlike some other wine bars in town).  It's not stuffy, and even flip flops are acceptable.  The service can be hit or miss, but if you get one of the "hits" the service is fab as well.  Probably one of my favorite places in town.

Yummy wine, good gift place, Professional service

by rumbalsa, Monday 13 of October, 2008 (15:28:15)

While "dinning" at this establishment. (If you can call drinking lots of wine dinning) I was very impressed with the staff. An unfortunate problem occurred with a not so welcomed patron. The person seemed to be homeless and not mentally stable. She was practically harmless however became a bit belligerent and caused a little bit of scene. The way the staff handled the situation was impeccable. They were quick to diffuse the situation yet still treated her with respect. That situation will bring me back. Not to mention the great Tempranillo! A little pricey for a glass but a wonderful way to decide what bottles to buy.

Also, 58 degrees was a great place to drop in and grab a quick thank you gift for a friend. The seller was well knowledge, stayed with in my budget, and even took the time to wrap the bottle up nicely for me.

58 degrees is highly recommended.

Perfect Rendezvous

Met an old friend here for drinks. Ordered a cheese tray with our wine. Excellent. And wait staff attentive.

Sit down and Relax

I love coming here for a glass of wine with friends. The atmosphere is elegant and classy.  The staff is very knowledgeable and has great recommendations when wanting to try something new.  The best part is if you really love what you try you can purchase a bottle in their next room to take home with you!

Classy

by stacy, Monday 11 of August, 2008 (11:46:55)

I really enjoy coming here early on a Friday or Saturday night for a glass of wine. The food is good as well, but the selection if sparse. The staff is top notch. They seem to really know the product and are good at making suggestions if you're not sure what you are in the mood for. It gets pretty crowded after 8:30pm, so I suggest getting there before 8 to snag a spot to sit.

I love the options at 58 Degrees: small sample or larger "confident" pours of interesting and tasty wines, delicious and visually appealing small plates, and a beer list with that will please the most discriminating connissour. The decor has simple elegant appeal, the service is attentive & more than competent, the people watching is phenomenal. Take a date, go alone, just make sure you go!

58 Degrees & Holding

Not surprising: Classy. Pleasantly Surprising: Wines are 15% off all day Sundays! Surprisingly Accommodating: Go ahead and bring the beer lovers with you – They won’t have the quantity of drink options that the wine-lovers do but, but the beer-lovers won’t go thirsty. Surprisingly Delightful: The Wine Store dazzles when the afternoon sun comes shining through the windows and onto the hundreds (thousands?) of boutique wines.

This is definitely the best wine shop on The Grid! The casual atmosphere is what keeps me from giving this restaurant five stars, but that doesn't mean anything's lacking. A fantastic selection of wines at varying prices, the tasty menu (encourages sharing), and a friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable staff make this a great hangout for after work or on a casual afternoon. Also, I love coming here before or after a nice meal for an appertif of chamagne or to nibble on the chocolate platter with a nightcap of red.

Attention Wine Lovers

This wine bar is a gem in Sacramento. The atmosphere is quaint and classy and brings an elegant flair to the Panhandle District of midtown. The wines are unique and nicely paired with the gourmet and well-presented small plates of food. It is also the best place to shop for wine in the area!
