Open on holiday mornings
My BFF and I always have holiday breakfasts here. It's tradition... Thanksgiving, New Year's, Christmas. It's like stepping back in time. Kind of old fashioned diner. Real people waitresses. Some of the coffee and busers don't speak English - but hey, it's ok. Coffee is coffee. And they keep it coming. Omelets are good. Plates are big. The spoons aren't greasy but it's got the feel of the 'greasy spoon' - meant in the kindest most loving way. Thanks for being open when few places. It's like home!
Extra Greasy Spoon
I was very disappointed with breakfast at the Cornerstone. The food was not very good, extra greasy and the service was sloooow. There are better breakfast places in midtown.
Not bad
best breakfast
This place has the best breakfast and you will be full when you leave. No skimpy servings at this joint.
I'm hungry now just thinking about their potatoes and pancakes. This place is close to being called a "hole in the wall" , very casual, good service . The only down side is the wait, but it is well worth it! If you have never been and enjoy a good big breakfast, you have to try this place at least once, you won't be disappointed.
Yummy
There is a reason why people are lined up out the door on the weekends. Yes, the place is a bit of a dive, but the food more than makes up for any issues you may have with the decor. For the love of Pete, if you order anything with potatoes for breakfast, please be prepared to bring a shovel - the portions are huge! This place is just perfect after a late night of drinking in Midtown.
$4 Breakfast
Go for the Tuna Melt
It may not be gorgeous, but this greasy spoon is THE SPOT for a tuna melt. It's grilled brown and the tuna is fatteningly mayonaised to perfection. There is no better.
grub and for great prices. Your service is fast and efficient but I have not seen them smile much.
During the good weather months it is great to sit outside and people-watch while enjoying the midtown scene
walk by.
Cornerstone
Cornerstone Restaurant located on J and 23rd St. in Midtown has been a long-time hot spot for locals looking for something tasty to eat. The restaurant is quite casual as booths claim the walls and several tables are scattered around three dinning rooms.
Pick where you want to sit and a server will be right with you to take your order. When I ate at Cornerstone, I ordered ‘create-your-own’ omelet along with coffee and cranberry juice. The omelet came as a layered egg specialty filled with cheese and veggies, just as I had ordered it. Cornerstone is known for their potatoes which resemble scalloped potatoes that looked lightly pan-fried.
There was plenty of food and the prices weren’t too bad either – but you do have to pay up front. Don’t forget to walk back to your table to leave a tip. I left with a full stomach but not so sure if I should come back again to Cornerstone for breakfast. Maybe lunch?
