The Rubicon, which opened in 1987, has been the most enduring brewpub in Sacramento, maintaining a reputation for offering outstanding beers in a wide range of styles and for providing one of the most comfortable pub experiences in town. A fixture in the urban heart of Sacramento long before the area became a popular spot for upscale restaurants and loft living, the Rubicon has helped define downtown Sacramento as a place to go.

From the beginning, original brewer Phil Moeller developed the Rubicon’s signature style of firmly hopped ales and innovative seasonal beers, including the fabled Winter Wheat Wine. The brewery has developed a national reputation after winning several awards at the Great American Beer Festival, including back-to-back gold medals for its flagship India Pale Ale.

Brewmaster, Scott Cramlet, has learned commercial brewing while training with Moeller. Having been with the Rubicon for over 17 years, he continues to brew the pub's renowned flaship IPA (India Pale Ale), but also a changing assortment of seasonal offerings and innovative creations.

Relaxed Place to Hang Out

Nice patio to hang out on. Not pretenious or stuffy, laid back and relaxing with good drinks and food. Try the Two River Cider, the best ever.

Rubi Tuesi

Rubicon is a great place to check out on a Tuesday night. Why? Most beers are only $2.50 and their outdoor patio is the perfect place to relax with friends. The recently revamped their menu and I must say the Rubi-Q burger is among the best in town. This enormous burger is adorned with cheddar cheese and an onion ring all smothered in some finger lickin’ good BBQ sauce. It is big enough to split and should most definitely be washed down with Amber Ale. This is a great place to mellow out on a weeknight.

I was so happy when they expanded their menu. Their food was always good, but now there is so much to choose from and a lot of it is quite healthy. The waffle fries are hard to beat. the steak is great and so is the grilled chicken. And the Monkey Knife Fight is a great beer! Always a good option.

Beer on the patio.

This is a great place to hang out after work on a weekday. Have a pitcher of their awesome beer and chill in the shade of the trees. The food is great too if you decide to make a session out of it.

Great homemade beer, a changes-daily sausage selection, build your own baked potato, a great patio and location, how could you not love this place? The new menu is an ambitious new direction for a local after-work staple destination that proves this place is committed to keeping the standards high, and they are here to stay. If you haven't enjoyed a pint of the awsomely named Monkey Knife Fight ale on Rubicon's patio, you should go today.
