Description
For 32 years, Wellspring Women’s Center in Oak Park has offered services for Sacramento women and their children with the mission to provide hospitality with dignity and love. This yearly fundraiser yields 12 percent of Wellspring’s annual operating budget. In addition to dinner and dessert with excellent wine and beer, a silent and a live auction are part of the fundraising efforts for the night.
The silent auction features more than a dozen pieces of art from local Sacramento artists. The live auction features packages including a trip to San Francisco for a Giants game and other activities, a week at a cabin in Lake Tahoe, a tasting tour of craft beer in Sacramento, and a weekend in San Diego.

"The City’s Recycling and Solid Waste Division this spring is offering a series of free in-person backyard composting seminars to help residents learn how to turn food scraps into compost right in their own backyard.
Attendees will learn about decomposition at a local community garden and discover how to recycle leaves, yard clippings, fruit, and vegetable scraps. Additionally, they’ll receive a demonstration on using a “Geobin” composter and learn about composting materials.
Tips will be shared on how to achieve the right balance of food, air, and moisture, how to maintain compost piles, and home gardening."

"City staff will be giving away free wood mulch to Sacramento residents on May 4 at the Sacramento Marina (2710 Ramp Way).
There will be a limit of one cubic yard of mulch per customer during the event, which will take place from 8 a.m. to noon or while supplies last.
Attendees can also get free bagged and loose compost, which can improve soil health."
