Can I Be Wrong?
Could I Be Wrong?
It’s always been important for me to admit when I am wrong. I usually like to do this right away, get it out there ...... so, could I be wrong? Is Sarah Palin the right choice for republicans?..... for women? Certainly she knocked her speech out of the ballpark for republican pro-life women, especially if you like listening to bashing and blaming and failing to speak about solutions. She was funny, clearly knowing how to deliver a joke and a speech; she made jabs at their democratic opponents showing she was tough and likable at the same time. She’s fired up her troops and her entrance with the applause that lingered was impressive. I was truly inspired by the warm reception she was given.
BUT ........ Likable or not, are Americans ready for 4 more years of the Bush/Cheney policy? Will the fear mongering scare tactics lead the American people to believe they are safer with a foreign policy that keeps us at war? While a half million more women have joined the unemployment rolls during the Bush/Cheney administration, do women really feel safer? Can a $40 billion pipeline and our prayers protect us against a potential oil spill that destroys some of America’s most beautiful lands and seas?....... will “drill baby drill” really give us what we want as a country in energy efficiency? Will 95% of Americas working families that will receive their tax cuts by the democratic platform be overshadowed by the 5% of people making over $250,000 whose taxes will be raised? Why is their faith governing our country and steering our politics when we lawfully prescribe to a separation of church and state? Am I wrong?
Why are the republicans so mad? In the last 8 years, 6 of those years they controlled the House of Representatives, 5 of those years they controlled the Senate and 7 of the 9 Supreme Court Justices were appointed by a republican President. The republican platform on “issues is against” universal health care, equal pay for equal work, woman’s abortion rights, gay/lesbian civil rights, sex education, federal funding for medical science and stem cell research, failed to rescue Americans from Katrina and our veterans serving our great nation, have added $9 trillion to the national debt, oil companies have had the biggest windfall profits in history adnd American citizens pay $4 per gallon for gas, all the while having given the biggest tax cuts to the wealthiest while the middle class is thrust into poverty and skyrocketing home foreclosures ~ all under the leadership of a republican lead Congress and President who have governed this country.
So why are republican women happy? Do republican women see their self interest protected by Sarah Palin? Could I be wrong? I heard the slogan “they are the party that is expanding freedom”......... where is the freedom or the cry from Jesus who says to blame the poor, force the women to reproductive slavery? Are we all living in the same America? I think I may be wrong, I think she is a good choice for McCain and the party of self interest, religious governance, fetus as life and women as slaves and servants, BUT I think they are the worst choice for Americas future and for women. I think women should know better, .......... herstory has taught us, there is no ascent to power for women if the one who represents us is sending us backyard 100 years backwards.
