Get ready to sip, sample and shop your way through one of the most anticipated annual events in Downtown Truckee. This fall marks the 15th year of the Downtown Truckee Wine, Walk & Shop, where attendees will experience award winning wines from over 30 different vendors while sampling gourmet food and strolling through local boutiques and shops on Saturday, October 6 from noon to 4 p.m. Tickets are $45 in advance, $55 at the door and include a commemorative wine glass for unlimited wine tasting, five food tickets, a goodie bag and a directory of all participating venues. And it’s all for a great cause! Thanks to the generosity of attendees and participants alike, more than $30,000 has been donated to local non-profit organizations to date. "The City’s Recycling and Solid Waste Division this spring is offering a series of free in-person backyard composting seminars to help residents learn how to turn food scraps into compost right in their own backyard.
Attendees will learn about decomposition at a local community garden and discover how to recycle leaves, yard clippings, fruit, and vegetable scraps. Additionally, they’ll receive a demonstration on using a “Geobin” composter and learn about composting materials.
Tips will be shared on how to achieve the right balance of food, air, and moisture, how to maintain compost piles, and home gardening."

"City staff will be giving away free wood mulch to Sacramento residents on May 4 at the Sacramento Marina (2710 Ramp Way).
There will be a limit of one cubic yard of mulch per customer during the event, which will take place from 8 a.m. to noon or while supplies last.
Attendees can also get free bagged and loose compost, which can improve soil health."
