We are so excited to invite you to join us for the 2019 Walk to Defeat ALS, held on Saturday, October 5th, 2019 at Raley Field in West Sacramento. The Walk is The ALS Association Greater Sacramento Chapters biggest fundraiser of the year; a time and a place for us to come together and stand in solidarity to honor the courageous souls who are affected by ALS, to remember those who have passed, and to show support for the cause. When you walk to Defeat ALS, you help expand the programs and services that benefit people living with the disease across the nation and in our community.

"The City’s Recycling and Solid Waste Division this spring is offering a series of free in-person backyard composting seminars to help residents learn how to turn food scraps into compost right in their own backyard.
Attendees will learn about decomposition at a local community garden and discover how to recycle leaves, yard clippings, fruit, and vegetable scraps. Additionally, they’ll receive a demonstration on using a “Geobin” composter and learn about composting materials.
Tips will be shared on how to achieve the right balance of food, air, and moisture, how to maintain compost piles, and home gardening."

"City staff will be giving away free wood mulch to Sacramento residents on May 4 at the Sacramento Marina (2710 Ramp Way).
There will be a limit of one cubic yard of mulch per customer during the event, which will take place from 8 a.m. to noon or while supplies last.
Attendees can also get free bagged and loose compost, which can improve soil health."
