On Saturday and Sunday, October 27th and 28th 2018, Sacramento will again commemorate Día de los Muertos/Day of the Dead with the 9th Annual El Panteón de Sacramento. Fifty large altares created by families, friends and community non-profits form the urban re-creation of small village cemeteries in Mexico. Live music, dance and spoken word, plus a mercado/marketplace with traditional foods are part of the 48-hour event.
The event is FREE to the public and attracts thousands of visitors, predominantly families. El Panteón de Sacramento is created outdoor in the parking lot on J and K between 20th and 21st Street in bustling Midtown Sacramento. We expect over 20,000 visitors. Crowds have increased every year and has become a destination weekend event for California.
