Description
The University Union’s UNIQUE Programs is pleased to host A Memory, A Monologue, A Rant and A Prayer on Tuesday, February 26th, 2019. This is a student run stage production edited by Eve Ensler (Vagina Monologues) and Mollie Doyle to end the violence against black, brown, trans & non binary. The event will take place at 6pm in the University Union Ballroom. This event is co-sponsored by Sacramento State’s Student Health and Counseling Services and the Women’s Resource Center.
Sac State’s benefit production of A Memory, A Monologue, A Rant and A Prayer will be directed by students Jenna Estenson and Priyanka Chahal . This inaugural production will honor womxn of color (trans gender, non-conforming, and hetero) in surviving misogyny, white feminism, capitalism, colonization, racism, imperialism, homophobia, transphobia, Islamophobia, and xenophobia. These diverse voices rise up in a collective roar to break open, expose, and examine the insidiousness of violence at all levels: brutality, neglect, a punch, even a put-down. These writings are inspired, funny, angry, heartfelt, tragic, and beautiful. But above all, together they create a true and profound portrait of how violence affects every one of us. The proceeds from this Sac State stage production will go to My Sister’s House- an organization that addresses the needs of Asian and Pacific Islander women and children impacted by domestic violence.
