Bandhoppers presents Amahjra (Psychedelic/Alternative/Blues, Richvale, CA) along with Rio Wiley (Indie/Pop/R&B, Phoenix, AZ) and Cardboard Ringo (Rock, Sacramento).
Amahjra – Life-long friends, Greg Fischer and Deryk Bissell began forming what would become, with the addition of Billy Jackson and Motown, the four member band Amahjra. Raised in rural, northern California, a gritty sound was born from small town upbringings and musical influences, Led Zeppelin, Stevie Ray Von, Alice In Chains and Pink Floyd. With chemistry and creativity at an all time high, Amahjra will release the new single, Eye To Eye in October 2018 and their follow-up album to Listen For Reason is anticipated in 2019. Whether performing at the local bar, or headlining a main stage, Amahjra pulls you in with their high-energy, unforgettable performances and always leaves you wanting more.
Rio Wiley is the solo indie pop project of singer/songwriter Rio Stinger. After releasing two records with post-hardcore act I Remember Burning, Stinger began expanding his songwriting ability in Pop, Rock, and R&B. Rio Wiley’s 2016 debut single and music video “tired & done” unveiled Rio’s story-telling ability, through a smooth R&B/Punk inspired voice and avant-garde lyricism. Rio Wiley followed the single with an explosive 5 song pop-rock EP titled “young ghost”. Over the next year, the project played shows heavily, in addition to releasing 4 music videos, two new singles (“anxiety” and “u better listen”), acoustic & remixed versions of “u better listen”, and 3 SoundCloud-exclusive demos. In September of 2017, Rio Wiley released the first single and music video from the upcoming sophomore EP, “less low”. “less low” released on September 29th,2017. Rio Wiley is on a West Coast tour from 10.13 – 10.22, select dates with Call Me Karizma.
