Do you want to create gorgeous paintings, but you’re not really sure how color works? Have you ever sat down to paint a scene, but the colors wound up looking juvenile and incomplete? Not to worry! In this acrylic class, you’ll learn how to paint all of the colors found in nature. You’ll develop your eye for mixing, tinting, shading, creating earth tones, and neutrals! Find out how to combine colors that pop! Learn how to avoid mucky, muddy paintings. By the end of the weekend, you’ll have your own hand-painted color wheels and scales for future reference as well as a comprehensive understanding of how color mixing works. This class is perfect for all experience levels!

"The City’s Recycling and Solid Waste Division this spring is offering a series of free in-person backyard composting seminars to help residents learn how to turn food scraps into compost right in their own backyard.
Attendees will learn about decomposition at a local community garden and discover how to recycle leaves, yard clippings, fruit, and vegetable scraps. Additionally, they’ll receive a demonstration on using a “Geobin” composter and learn about composting materials.
Tips will be shared on how to achieve the right balance of food, air, and moisture, how to maintain compost piles, and home gardening."

"City staff will be giving away free wood mulch to Sacramento residents on May 4 at the Sacramento Marina (2710 Ramp Way).
There will be a limit of one cubic yard of mulch per customer during the event, which will take place from 8 a.m. to noon or while supplies last.
Attendees can also get free bagged and loose compost, which can improve soil health."
