Description
Sunaina Maira, organizer for the U.S. Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel, and Marcelle Obeid, past president of UC Davis Students for Justice in Palestine address attempts to silence students and faculty who have organized for Palestinian rights and what this means for all efforts to challenge injustice.
Professor Maira teaches Asian American Studies at UC Davis. Her recent book is Boycott! The Academy and Justice for Palestine.
Obeid is interviewed in the Al Jazeera series, The Lobby, that exposes how the Israeli lobby spies on & tries to smear U.S. citizens & buy our elected officials. Watch: The Lobby; links at sac4palestine.org

"The City’s Recycling and Solid Waste Division this spring is offering a series of free in-person backyard composting seminars to help residents learn how to turn food scraps into compost right in their own backyard.
Attendees will learn about decomposition at a local community garden and discover how to recycle leaves, yard clippings, fruit, and vegetable scraps. Additionally, they’ll receive a demonstration on using a “Geobin” composter and learn about composting materials.
Tips will be shared on how to achieve the right balance of food, air, and moisture, how to maintain compost piles, and home gardening."

"City staff will be giving away free wood mulch to Sacramento residents on May 4 at the Sacramento Marina (2710 Ramp Way).
There will be a limit of one cubic yard of mulch per customer during the event, which will take place from 8 a.m. to noon or while supplies last.
Attendees can also get free bagged and loose compost, which can improve soil health."
