Vox Musica jumps into an exciting new project with the second concert of our 14th season, Fragility of Goodness: Music from the Balkans and Beyond. This concert will be a unique cultural experience of Balkan and Georgian music, featuring folk harmonies that will highlight the rich cultural roots of the music and the artistry of its contemporary performance.
Joining us in this performance is Sacramento’s very own Zado European Music Ensemble (zadosings.org), who specialize in folk songs from the Eastern European region,
and UCLA Balkan music specialists, Ivan & Tzvetanka Varimezova.

"The City’s Recycling and Solid Waste Division this spring is offering a series of free in-person backyard composting seminars to help residents learn how to turn food scraps into compost right in their own backyard.
Attendees will learn about decomposition at a local community garden and discover how to recycle leaves, yard clippings, fruit, and vegetable scraps. Additionally, they’ll receive a demonstration on using a “Geobin” composter and learn about composting materials.
Tips will be shared on how to achieve the right balance of food, air, and moisture, how to maintain compost piles, and home gardening."

"City staff will be giving away free wood mulch to Sacramento residents on May 4 at the Sacramento Marina (2710 Ramp Way).
There will be a limit of one cubic yard of mulch per customer during the event, which will take place from 8 a.m. to noon or while supplies last.
Attendees can also get free bagged and loose compost, which can improve soil health."
