On Saturday, February 23, 2019, the Sacramento French Film Festival presents its 12th WINTER SHORTS FEST featuring the 2019 César-nominated short films.
The French Academy of Cinema Arts and Techniques will host the 44th César Ceremony (the French equivalent of the Oscars) on Friday, February 22, celebrating the best French films of the year. The following evening, the Sacramento French Film Festival will present César-nominated live-action and animated short films during the WINTER SHORTS FEST. After the screening, the audience will be invited to vote for the “Sacramento César Awards.” The results will be announced at the end of the evening. Will Sacramento agree with the French Academy on the winners? We will find out on February 23!
Ticket price: $12 General Admission (includes $0.75 Crest Facility Fee)
Doors and bar at 6:00 p.m.

"The City’s Recycling and Solid Waste Division this spring is offering a series of free in-person backyard composting seminars to help residents learn how to turn food scraps into compost right in their own backyard.
Attendees will learn about decomposition at a local community garden and discover how to recycle leaves, yard clippings, fruit, and vegetable scraps. Additionally, they’ll receive a demonstration on using a “Geobin” composter and learn about composting materials.
Tips will be shared on how to achieve the right balance of food, air, and moisture, how to maintain compost piles, and home gardening."

"City staff will be giving away free wood mulch to Sacramento residents on May 4 at the Sacramento Marina (2710 Ramp Way).
There will be a limit of one cubic yard of mulch per customer during the event, which will take place from 8 a.m. to noon or while supplies last.
Attendees can also get free bagged and loose compost, which can improve soil health."
