The Black Rider tells the story of a classic German fairy tale about a deal with the Devil.
Wilhelm, a bookish clerk, is in love with Kätchen, a forester’s daughter, but her father won’t let her marry a man who can’t shoot. So Wilhelm obtains some magic bullets that never miss from a person who’s pretty obviously the Devil, heedless of the fact that the Devil gets to choose the target of the last bullet. After all, there’s no way that could end badly.
With a book by William Burroughs and music by Tom Waits, this musical is sure to be strange and amazing! You won’t want to miss out.
Performances of The Black Rider begin on Friday, August 3 at 8 p.m. and continue through Saturday, August 25, 2018 at the Westminster Presbyterian Church Hall at 1300 N Street in Sacramento. Show times will be Fridays, and Saturdays at 8 p.m., and Sundays at 7 p.m. Tickets cost $18 and are available online at greenvalleytheatre.com/tickets, or in-person at the door.
Parents should be aware that this show contains intense imagery, mild language, and the use of firearms. Not intended for young audiences.
