Two Non-Profits Come Together to “Scare for a Cause” and Support Year-Round Community Programs

(Rancho Cordova, CA) — Ready for a really good scare? Not only are there excellent haunts at the Heartstoppers Haunted House in Rancho Cordova, it is the ideal venue for such an attraction given that that the Mineshaft property itself is rumored to be haunted. Not only are there two major haunts within the main building, upstairs and in the creepy caves and basement, but there are two spooky outdoor haunts adjacent in the former mini golf course and property adjacent to Folsom Boulevard to complete the experience with spooks in every corner. Tickets start at $25. www.heartstoppershaunt.com

Heartstoppers’ production team has been running professional quality haunted houses for 12 years. Last year Heartstoppers, now affiliated with a 501c3 nonprofit called Theatre Education 4 Theater Nerds, Inc., was welcomed back to Rancho Cordova with open arms and was offered a long-term home at the Mineshaft. They have deepened their relationship with the Cordova Community Council and will receive community and marketing support from the Council. Shared profits will then go to support various community programs in Rancho Cordova run by the two organizations.

“We love being back in our favorite location to make ourselves at home with more permanent investment in the property and the community,” said Joel Watson, producer of Heartstoppers Haunt. “Heartstoppers Haunted House in October is our heart and soul, but we loved hosting several educational workshops this year around theatre arts. Eventually we may expand the haunt in other seasons for specialty themed haunts.”

Tickets include all attractions, plus an Old West Saloon waiting area indoors (so inclement weather won’t be a problem) where themed refreshments and souvenirs will be available to help guests prepare for or wind down from their Heartstoppers experience. Its four attractions are loosely themed around the Old West including:

Completely new haunt, The Ward!! The saga of the Ghàst family continues, Steamghàst Asylum has jumped ahead 12 years and is now known as The Ward. A museum and hospital research facility with a dark secret.
Deadlands, the original zombie western haunt, is being greatly expanded to include some outdoor interactive scenes along with several new buildings.
Underland is being upgraded to incorporate many new characters and trippy 3D effects.
The dark catacombs of Murk have been shifted around with new creatures around every corner. How fast can you find your way out?!

Tickets are $25. For those who don’t have the guts to wait in line and enjoy the anticipation, Fancy Pants tickets for $40 enters them into the Fast-Q. If you can’t get enough, upgrade to the Season Pass for $90 and visit us as you wish all season. For those wanting a truly unique and even more thrilling experience, they can purchase Committed: The Ride tickets, $60 for a private tour via antique wheelchair, alone with one character “guide” with the guarantee of extra “attention” in the attractions. Limited number sold per night and only available for purchase at the box office.

Combat Laser Overload has joined with Heartstoppers again this season. Become immersed in an interactive survival game, where you will take on the living dead…and other players. With the most advanced laser equipment in the industry, it’s like walking into a FPS video game. Players will use it to stay alive and escape back to the living, before they get infected.

“Our volunteers are the foundation of our organization,” explained Joel Watson, producer of Heartstoppers Haunted House. “We are grateful for their hard work and dedication to learn an artistic craft while help us bring our vision to life for a premier haunted house experience that benefits the community.”

The Cordova Community Council Foundation is very involved in supporting Heartstoppers Haunted House in many ways. From helping recruit community volunteers to running the parking, helping secure the venue and marketing support, they are a valuable partner.

“The Cordova Community Council is up for another good scare, so join us – if you dare,” said Shelly Blanchard, executive director. “If it’s fun you’re looking for, we’re never far away.”

A portion of the proceeds will benefit Rancho Cordova community activities presented by the Cordova Community Council.

Heartstoppers Haunted House will open to the public on Friday, October 4 and will operate for the public Fridays and Saturdays each weekend in October, 7:30 – 10:30 p.m. One Sunday, Oct. 7:30 – 10:00 p.m. And additional dates on Oct. 30, until 10:30 p.m. and 31, until 11:30 p.m. Halloween week will include Wed. and Thurs. night. Ticket booth opens at 7:00 p.m.
