Sacramento’s longest-running summer jazz series is tuning up and turning out in 2019 with premier performances on fourth Thursdays, June through September in the Crocker’s outdoor courtyard.

Along with the concert, attendees can enjoy all the Museum has to offer, including special exhibitions, gallery talks, the Museum Store, and dinner and drinks at the Crocker Cafe by Supper Club. For the best seat in the house, bring your own chair. There is limited seating provided, standing room to mingle, and plenty of space to dance. Please, no outside food or beverages (excluding water).

Komaga Trio

Awarded the “Best Jazz Hound in Tie and Tail” by Sacramento magazine, jazz harpist Motoshi Kosako takes inspiration from the bustling, electric cacophony of Tokyo and the serenity of the Sierra foothills to present compositions that are improvisational and original. Kosako is joined by fellow artists Michael Manring, on electric bass, and Chris Garcia, percussion, as the Komaga Trio.

Wayne Wallace Latin Jazz Quartet

World-renowned trombonist, composer, arranger, and producer Wayne Wallace rocks the stage with his Grammy-nominated Latin Jazz Quartet. One of this generation’s most eloquent trombonists, Wallace’s music has been described as “Afro-Cuban jazz that shakes, quakes, and practically immolates.”

Choo Choo Boogaloo

In big-band style, Peter Petty & His Titans of Terpsichore along with special guests take on songs like Glenn Miller’s “Chatanooga Choo Choo” and Billy Strayhorn’s “Take the A Train” in this rocking performance celebrating the Crocker’s summer exhibition The Race to Promontory: The Transcontinental Railroad and The American West.

Kim Nalley

Bay-area legend and international performer Kim Nalley “has pipes to burn and works the stage like she means it” (San Francisco Chronicle). She and her band heat up this summer’s concert series with a performance evoking the legendary divas of American jazz.
