An empowering afternoon benefiting the nurturing of young women in music!
YES!!! We love a good happy hour fundraiser and rock show at the Torch! Save the date for our spring Ladies Rock Camp Showcase!
Girls Rock Sacramento is a nonprofit 501 C-3 organization that empowers girls through music and music education. We promote an environment that fosters self-confidence, creativity and teamwork. GRS challenges gender stereotypes, encourages collaboration and tolerance among peers, and provides a comfortable and safe place for girls of all backgrounds to express themselves. Through music lessons, workshops, group activities and live performance, girls acquire skills that help guide them throughout their lives.

"The City’s Recycling and Solid Waste Division this spring is offering a series of free in-person backyard composting seminars to help residents learn how to turn food scraps into compost right in their own backyard.
Attendees will learn about decomposition at a local community garden and discover how to recycle leaves, yard clippings, fruit, and vegetable scraps. Additionally, they’ll receive a demonstration on using a “Geobin” composter and learn about composting materials.
Tips will be shared on how to achieve the right balance of food, air, and moisture, how to maintain compost piles, and home gardening."

"City staff will be giving away free wood mulch to Sacramento residents on May 4 at the Sacramento Marina (2710 Ramp Way).
There will be a limit of one cubic yard of mulch per customer during the event, which will take place from 8 a.m. to noon or while supplies last.
Attendees can also get free bagged and loose compost, which can improve soil health."
