The Miss Sacramento Latina and Miss Teen Sacramento Latina are the most important pageants for Latinas in the Sacramento area. The Mission is to empower women of Latino and Hispanic origin living in the Sacramento region, enable them to embrace and showcase their Latin American culture while serving the community.
Miss Sacramento Latina and Miss Teen Sacramento Latina Pageants provide personal and professional opportunities for young women to take pride in their culture, have a voice in politics and in-turn make a difference in the community. The organization provides a forum where the beauty, viewpoints, talents and accomplishments of young Latinas are not only highlighted, but also have a purpose.
Miss Sacramento Latina and Miss Teen Sacramento Latina are the preliminaries to the State Miss California Latina and Miss Teen California Latina, which are the most prestigious and well know pageant in the State of California.

"The City’s Recycling and Solid Waste Division this spring is offering a series of free in-person backyard composting seminars to help residents learn how to turn food scraps into compost right in their own backyard.
Attendees will learn about decomposition at a local community garden and discover how to recycle leaves, yard clippings, fruit, and vegetable scraps. Additionally, they’ll receive a demonstration on using a “Geobin” composter and learn about composting materials.
Tips will be shared on how to achieve the right balance of food, air, and moisture, how to maintain compost piles, and home gardening."

"City staff will be giving away free wood mulch to Sacramento residents on May 4 at the Sacramento Marina (2710 Ramp Way).
There will be a limit of one cubic yard of mulch per customer during the event, which will take place from 8 a.m. to noon or while supplies last.
Attendees can also get free bagged and loose compost, which can improve soil health."
