To kick-off the Spring semester, The University Union Gallery will be hosting the annual More Than Just Scribbles exhibition, featuring work by the infants, toddlers, and preschoolers from Sacramento State’s Associated Students Inc. Children’s Center. The exhibit will be held in The University Union’s Gallery from February 25th– March 14th during general hours. This event is co-sponsored by The Crocker Art Museum.
More Than Just Scribbles showcases the beauty and complexity of young children’s work. Each photo and description captures the enthusiasm of the creative process, which allows viewers to gain a deeper understanding of the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development that occurs when children are engaged in creating art. The collection features collaborative pieces in a variety of media inspired by the children’s interests and experiences. Their inspiration is found through the beauty, diversity, and awe captured by these budding young artist as you see the world through their eyes.
The reception for More Than Just Scribbles will be held on Thursday, February 28th, 2019 from 6-8 pm in the Gallery, located on the 2nd floor of the University Union. Each person will receive a free pass to attend special events at the Crocker Museum.
Unlike most Gallery events, there will be an art room, where children are welcome to participate in several art activities with representatives from the Children’s Center.
The first 70 children at the reception will receive a free goodie bag.
The exhibit, along with its reception, is open to the general public. Attendants are welcome to meet the artists and enjoy appetizers provided at the event.
The Gallery will be open Monday-Fridays from 10:30am-3:30pm and Wednesday-Thursdays from 5-8pm February 25 through the academic semester.
