Organized by the California Historical Society and LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes, “¡Murales Rebeldes! L.A. Chicana/o Murals under Siege” explores the historic censorship, whitewashing, neglect and destruction of Southern California murals from the 1960s and 1970s Chicana/o Movement.

Featuring sketches, photographs, rescued fragments, and more, the exhibit features the stories of eight murals that showcase the Mexican American community’s creativity and reveal the power of urban art.

On view at the California Museum from July 25 through Dec. 29, 2019, visit http://www.californiamuseum.org/murales-rebeldes for details.
