Join us for the 2019 NAMIWalks Northern California!
On May 4th, 2019 people from all walks of life will join together to show support for friends, families and members of the community who are impacted by mental illness. This event features a 1 mile option as well as the 5K walk (3 loops). Come walk with us regardless of your fitness level – everyone is invited!
NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) provides mental health services, support, education and advocacy in our local communities.
This is our largest fundraising event of the year and enables us to continue providing vital services to the community free of charge.
A fun, family-friendly, pet-friendly, inclusive and inspiring event for everyone! FREE to register and walk – fundraising encouraged!

"The City’s Recycling and Solid Waste Division this spring is offering a series of free in-person backyard composting seminars to help residents learn how to turn food scraps into compost right in their own backyard.
Attendees will learn about decomposition at a local community garden and discover how to recycle leaves, yard clippings, fruit, and vegetable scraps. Additionally, they’ll receive a demonstration on using a “Geobin” composter and learn about composting materials.
Tips will be shared on how to achieve the right balance of food, air, and moisture, how to maintain compost piles, and home gardening."

"City staff will be giving away free wood mulch to Sacramento residents on May 4 at the Sacramento Marina (2710 Ramp Way).
There will be a limit of one cubic yard of mulch per customer during the event, which will take place from 8 a.m. to noon or while supplies last.
Attendees can also get free bagged and loose compost, which can improve soil health."
