Description

In this 10 week class we will focus on Pioneering Women in Rock N Roll! Each week we will study one musician/artist/group,  AND learn a selection from the artist’s catalogue. In addition, each student will pick one artist/musician to write their own blog post on due by the end of class. Blog posts will be similar in fashion to this incredible website authored by Oihane Follones from Berlin, Germany.  https://iamintheband.blogspot.com/2019/01/lady-bo.html

We will also collaborate on writing and recording an original song and release it with cover art on 3 O’Clock Rock Records.

We will be using a combination of two platforms, Zoom and YouTube.  Zoom will facilitate online face-to-face interactions through an iPad or computer and will serve as a tool for instruction, demonstrations, and other engagement. YouTube will be a platform to share tutorials and videos.

Parents will receive an introduction letter with the Zoom link prior to the start of the class.

Requirements:

  • Access to an Ipad or computer
  • Access to streaming internet
  • Guardian involvement to help get online
  • An instrument is optional but if you don’t have one, here are some local places you can rent one.

"The City’s Recycling and Solid Waste Division this spring is offering a series of free in-person backyard composting seminars to help residents learn how to turn food scraps into compost right in their own backyard.

Attendees will learn about decomposition at a local community garden and discover how to recycle leaves, yard clippings, fruit, and vegetable scraps. Additionally, they’ll receive a demonstration on using a “Geobin” composter and learn about composting materials.

Tips will be shared on how to achieve the right balance of food, air, and moisture, how to maintain compost piles, and home gardening."

Sacramento Marina, 2710 Ramp Way

"City staff will be giving away free wood mulch to Sacramento residents on May 4 at the Sacramento Marina (2710 Ramp Way).

There will be a limit of one cubic yard of mulch per customer during the event, which will take place from 8 a.m. to noon or while supplies last.

Attendees can also get free bagged and loose compost, which can improve soil health."
