Description
Sacramento State will be hosting a winter blood drive Monday, February 18th through Wednesday, February 20th from 10am to 4pm each day in the University Union Ballroom. The blood drive is co-sponsored by Sac Stateโs Associated Students, Inc., The Swarm, The Hornet Bookstore, The University Union, The WELL, Student Health and Counseling Services and Vitalant (formerly known as BloodSource).
Blood donation saves the lives of accident victims, surgery patients, cancer patients and many others in need. Donating blood is safe, easy and takes about an hour. Sac Stateโs faculty and staff members are eligible for a “Fast Track” pass, which expedites the check-in process. Blood donors must weigh 110 pounds or more, be in overall good health and 17 years old or older, 16 with a signed Vitalant parental consent form. Participants should eat a healthy breakfast and drink water prior to donating.
The Be The Match Registry will also be at the event. By joining, a person is volunteering to be listed as a potential stem cell donor, ready to save the life of any patient in need of a transplant.
The blood drive is open to students, faculty/ staff and the general public at no cost. All donors will need a photo ID in order to donate. As a thank you, all participants will receive a t-shirt.
