Description
The Sierra Nevada Alliance presents the Sierra Summer Challenge. Join us in a fun challenge to make the most of your summer! Participants register for a friendly competition to either summit the most Sierra peaks, or swim in the most Sierra alpine lakes, all while documenting their adventures and raising donations and awareness for the important work that the Alliance does to protect and restore this amazing region. As an added bonus, the winner from each challenge will win some awesome backcountry gear!

"The City’s Recycling and Solid Waste Division this spring is offering a series of free in-person backyard composting seminars to help residents learn how to turn food scraps into compost right in their own backyard.
Attendees will learn about decomposition at a local community garden and discover how to recycle leaves, yard clippings, fruit, and vegetable scraps. Additionally, they’ll receive a demonstration on using a “Geobin” composter and learn about composting materials.
Tips will be shared on how to achieve the right balance of food, air, and moisture, how to maintain compost piles, and home gardening."

Sacramento Marina, 2710 Ramp Way
"City staff will be giving away free wood mulch to Sacramento residents on May 4 at the Sacramento Marina (2710 Ramp Way).
There will be a limit of one cubic yard of mulch per customer during the event, which will take place from 8 a.m. to noon or while supplies last.
Attendees can also get free bagged and loose compost, which can improve soil health."
