During this 5-day camp, participants will be introduced to basic hand-sewing techniques with all of the essential supplies: fabric, needle and thread. Participants will learn the safety precautions before manipulating textiles to create their own hand-sewn projects and will learn how to use a sewing machine to create mini animal pillows, designing a drawstring bag, a symmetrical art quilt square and more!

Space is limited to 15 participants. Each participant will be provided with their own workstation. All materials and instruction are included in session price. There will be a 15 minute break outdoors and a light snack will be provided each day. Learn about safety guidelines for our art programs here.

Suggested age range: 8-12

(If you register for both AM & PM sessions, please provide your child with a packed lunch. Blue Line Arts will provide a supervised lunch hour at no additional cost from 12-1PM.)

"The City’s Recycling and Solid Waste Division this spring is offering a series of free in-person backyard composting seminars to help residents learn how to turn food scraps into compost right in their own backyard.

Attendees will learn about decomposition at a local community garden and discover how to recycle leaves, yard clippings, fruit, and vegetable scraps. Additionally, they’ll receive a demonstration on using a “Geobin” composter and learn about composting materials.

Tips will be shared on how to achieve the right balance of food, air, and moisture, how to maintain compost piles, and home gardening."

"City staff will be giving away free wood mulch to Sacramento residents on May 4 at the Sacramento Marina (2710 Ramp Way).

There will be a limit of one cubic yard of mulch per customer during the event, which will take place from 8 a.m. to noon or while supplies last.

Attendees can also get free bagged and loose compost, which can improve soil health."
