Open Streets events are part of a global movement of transforming streets into pop-up parks and activated public spaces. Open to the community of all ages, Sacramento’s first open street event “Sunday Street,” will temporarily close a City street to cars and open it up for the community to engage in healthy activities of all kinds!

Organized by our office, City of Sacramento Public Works, and in partnership with the Greater Broadway District, the Sacramento Area Council of Governments, Sac Republic FC, the California Endowment, and the Air Quality Management District, our inaugural Sunday Street event will take place May 21 from 8 am to noon on Broadway. The street will be closed from Riverside Boulevard to 26th Street, down to 2nd Avenue and east to Broadway. Whether it’s yoga on the street, bicycle demos, or street performers, the morning will be filled with activities for the whole family to enjoy.
