For the past two decades, The Brodys have been a major part of the live music scene in Northern California.

The band formed in Davis in 1995, and quickly built a large following with catchy pop/rock songs and energetic live performances.

In addition to reaching the radio with the regional hit “Toss” (which spent nearly a month as the most-requested song on Sacramento’s top alternative rock station) and a rocking version of “Frosty the Snowman,” The Brodys appeared on the international stage with songs in two MTV series, “Undergrads” and “Road Rules.”

The band (Tony Brusca, lead vocals/guitar; Ace Kapoor, guitar/backing vocals; Chris Chaussee, guitar/backing vocals; Troy Hook, bass/backing vocals; and Dave Kline, drums) maintained a grueling schedule during its first 10 years – performing several nights a week at venues up and down the state, and recording five CDs – before relaxing its schedule following the release of 2005’s “Stuck.” Even as the band devoted more time to raising the next generation of Brodys, it has remained one of the top acts in Sacramento.

Early 2017 finds the band working on new material, as well as continuing the tradition of adding new cover songs to the medley in its unique version of “Hungry Like the Wolf,” which has become an audience favorite.

While the band is known for the infectious fun and energy of its live performances, its recordings also have received acclaim. The 1998 release “Goody Goody” was described by The Bee as “a buzzing, melodic, wholly polished recording that sounds more like a major-label album than the self-released effort that it is.” The Brodys’ songs have appeared on several “Sounds of Sacramento” compilations, and the group earned a Sacramento Area Music (SAMMIE) award for best pop band.

In addition to headlining shows on the club circuit from Los Angeles to San Francisco, The Brodys have opened for touring bands including matchbox 20, Lit, Smash Mouth, Orgy, Foo Fighters and Cake.
