Join us for the Opening Artist Reception of Kareem Daniel’s “The Invisible Man: Reclaiming the Image of the Black Father,” at The Brickhouse Gallery & Art Complex , Friday, May 31st for the 6th Annual Sacramento Black Book Fair, and will run until June 29, 2019 with panel discussions, film, poetry, and featured speakers.

Kareem Daniels is a photographer in the Sacramento community, and has spent the last year photographing the images of “Black Father’s” or “Black Fatherhood” here, and in other cities, and states in America.  He set out to dispel the myth about the stereotype that Black Men of Black Fathers are “absent from their children; their families! He attacks the myth that plagues the black family, here in America, and around the world, through the power of his lens!

As Kareem began this journey on documenting Black Fathers and their families, a trust and bonding began to develop, a trust that allowed him into the inner sanctum of their private lives, as well as the intimacy shared between the fathers’ interactions with their ids, are all captured through the lens eye of Kareem’s camera!
