Music Beyond Borders and Owrang Theater Company present a a unique Iranian Musical, The Story of an Exhibition. Presumption is that the house is the waiting room of a photo gallery and that the audience are waiting for the opening of the main door. But the door is closed, the key holder is nowhere to be found, and the key is lost. The gallery is supposed to be an exhibition of the photos of female Iranian singers, their singing is supposed to be played in the gallery. After a few minutes pass and the door is still closed, one of the audience protests the situation.

Finally, the host of the program decides to show the pictures of each singer and perform one of their songs – songs that have been locked behind closed doors for years, originally performed between 1925 and 1979 – with the present band. In this journey, the audience will listen to half a century of Iranian music and will hear and become familiar with the voices of the female singers.

Music Beyond Borders promotes cultural unity and transforms lives by creating a platform for social advocacy in a musical context. The organization serves the Sacramento community with accessible concerts as well as opportunities for people from all walks of life to actively participate in making music.
