Go below – and back in time – to the nitty gritty of Sacramento City as all three Museum tours reach full swing.
Gold Fever! tours take place weekends at 11 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. from the Sacramento Visitors Center 1002 Second Street, near the corner of J and Second streets in the heart of Old Sacramento. It’s a family bargain at $10 for adults and $6 for youths 6-17.
We plunk you smack dab in the middle of the Gold Rush in Sacramento City. You get to play a real-life hero or villain from the time, and we give you a small fortune in gold. You try to survive the city’s first turbulent years of fire, flood and disease with your gold intact. Got gold left over? You can bet your fortune on a few hands of Spanish Monte.
Underground Tours run seven days a week in July.
Jump on one at 11 a.m., 12:30 p.m. or 2 p.m. Monday through Wednesday; and at 11 a.m., noon, 12:30 p.m. 1:30 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. Thursday and Fridays. You have plenty of more choices on the weekends, start at 10:30 a.m. and leaving every half hour until 2:30 p.m. On Saturday, we added tours at 3 and 4 p.m.
Underground Tours are $15 for adults and $10 for youths, and start and end at the Sacramento History Museum, 101 I Street, at the corner of I and Front streets.
Buy the tours together and save big. Adults pay just $20 for both tours, and the cost for youths is $13. You don’t have to take both tours on the same day. Just book your tours when you want, and you’re set.
The After Hours Tours take place at 6 p.m. Thursday through Saturday. It conjures this Gold Rush city at night, fraught with drinking, gambling, shootouts, houses of ill fame and assorted other adult stories. It’s for visitors 21 and older and ends at the River City Saloon with a commemorative shot glass for each visitor. Tickets are $20, and sell out fast, so buy as soon as you can.
