Join the United Nations Association of Sacramento for a wonderful afternoon to celebrate the anniversary of the founding of the UN over 70 years ago. Enjoy a special presentation “The UN and the Human Rights of Children” by Keynote Speaker Dr. Bill Myers. Bill Myers, BA, MPA, EdD, has dedicated over 30 years to the protection of children’s rights. After joining the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in 1980 he worked for or with the UN on child protection and child labor issues until his retirement from the International Labour Organization in 1996. Still active in retirement, Dr. Myers currently is focusing on the protection of children in climate change. His most recent book (2013, co-edited with Michael Bourdillon) is Child Protection in Development. Dr. Myers will speak on implementing the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child in the face of the daunting challenges of the 21st century.
