This is our sixth year offering camps for kids and we want you to join this summer for art-making, field-trips and fun at Verge!

We will be working on individual and collaborative projects throughout the week and will present a final exhibition open to the public on the last day. We’ll be working with different artists and learning about various media and techniques.

About the Teaching Artist:
Leah Florence grew up in Southern California where the green rolling hills, beaches and thriving art community first ignited her passion to create. She studied art in school but was mostly taught at home by her father who also is an artist. She went on to study art at Brigham Young University where she earned a degree in Visual Arts. During her time at school she focused primarily on figurative work but explored other disciplines such as book binding and collage. She took a four year hiatus from art to bring two children into the world. Once the dust settled she became inspired to communicate her experiences as a mother on a visual playing field. She has been recognized and awarded for her unique style in embroidery in a variety of juried shows. She displays her work not only in juried shows but in local business venues, festivals, online media and charity events. She also is a credential art teacher who works for the Colfax Unified School District. When she is not painting with her students, or her own two children, she can be found in her studio exploring the elements of mixed media, collage and acrylic. Her work covers a vast arena of themes and subjects but still primarily focuses on relationships and the intimacy found within them.

How will Verge ensure our kids are safe during camp?

*We are following the advice of the California Department of Public Health and incorporating that information into our procedures and using it as an educational opportunity.

*We are limiting our camp maximum to ten children, and encouraging social distancing during camp.

*Proper hygiene training has been added to our camp orientation for staff, interns and volunteers.

*There will be demos on hand washing and reminders to make sure all kids wash their hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds throughout the day.

*We will provide hand sanitizer, sanitizing wipes, and tissue and clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.

*All snacks and food provided will be individually packaged.

*Kids will be reminded to not touch their eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands and to cover their coughs and sneezes with tissue.

*We recommend guardians to check their kids’ temperature before they get dropped off at camp. We also recommend that kids with flu-like symptoms or temperature stay home.
