Railroad Museum Foundation Announces Weekend Excursion Trains are Available on the Sacramento Southern Railroad.
Space is Limited Due to Capacity Requirements and Advance Tickets are Encouraged.

Train ride experiences are available in open-air gondolas with café style chairs or in comfortable and cushioned enclosed coach cars. Presenting the only train ride experience behind an authentic, historic locomotive in the Sacramento region, excursion train rides depart at 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1 p.m., 2:30 p.m. and 4 p.m.

"The City’s Recycling and Solid Waste Division this spring is offering a series of free in-person backyard composting seminars to help residents learn how to turn food scraps into compost right in their own backyard.

Attendees will learn about decomposition at a local community garden and discover how to recycle leaves, yard clippings, fruit, and vegetable scraps. Additionally, they’ll receive a demonstration on using a “Geobin” composter and learn about composting materials.

Tips will be shared on how to achieve the right balance of food, air, and moisture, how to maintain compost piles, and home gardening."

"City staff will be giving away free wood mulch to Sacramento residents on May 4 at the Sacramento Marina (2710 Ramp Way).

There will be a limit of one cubic yard of mulch per customer during the event, which will take place from 8 a.m. to noon or while supplies last.

Attendees can also get free bagged and loose compost, which can improve soil health."
