Eric MacLachlan is a Californian artist who creates his artistic expressions in a wide variety of mediums. Most common being tattooing, oil painting, watercolor, and digital. His artwork ranges from dark to whimsical, with a focus on surrealism and human emotions. His artistic inspirations come from Yoshitaka Amano, Hieronymus Bosch as well as many pop surrealist artists.
In his solo exhibition, Eric MacLachlan explores themes of human emotion and life experiences through the lens of mental illnesses, such as anxiety and depression. “Where is My Mind” showcases a juxtaposition of brightly colored illustrations alongside dark-themed images and an interactive installation. Eric’s unique approach towards art-making results in a constant exploration of new mediums ranging from traditional painting to digital art and use of unconventional materials. Eric chooses his materials based on what will best convey the emotion expressed in the particular artwork. As a result, his solo exhibition is a deep dive into the depths of his mind.
In addition to the Gallery Show, select ARTHOUSE resident artists will open their studios to the public for Sac Open Studios, September 11 from 10am – 5pm.
