Description
Dr. Cornel West and Professor Tricia Rose will host a live recording of the The Tight Rope. As a basis for discussion, Dr. West and Professor Rose will host a dialogue focusing on Malxolm X’s strategic plan to influence his contemporaries in sports and entertainment (i.e. Muhammad Ali, Sam Cooke, Jim Brown) to leverage their platforms and celebrity to champion a revolutionary, freedom-fighting agenda. Juxtaposing the 1960’s Civil Rights era with the current Black Lives Matter epoch, the conversation will compare and contrast the efforts of activists, athletes and entertainers in their efforts to effect positive socio-political change.
