Rachel & Michael spend their all too rare evenings at home on their couch discussing how to overcome the literacy crisis in Sacramento and around the state (https://californiapolicycenter.org/the-literacy-crisis/). For one night, they have offered to move their living room to New Helvetia Brewery and include everyone’s favorite wonks in the conversation.
Reading is the most fundamental skill that allows children to succeed in school and fully participate in society. With so many kids continuing to fall behind, solving the literacy crisis is fundamental to combating economic and societal inequality.
