Cloud Hats is celebrating the release of our first EP! We will have physical copies of the EP for sale at the party and it will also be available on all streaming services on 12/14. Half party, half concert – come hang out with us, The Fontaine Classic and Red White Elephant. We will each be playing sets throughout the night. Cloud Hats was born of an Instagram post from an open mic during the summer of 2016. Since then, it has become the creative outlet for four friends – Gustavo Cruz, Jesse Rodriguez, Nardos Girma, and Beti Girma. With a folk, pop & indie-rock style, Cloud Hats draws its inspiration from varying musical groups, including Arcade Fire, Wild Child, and Sufjan Stevens. Each member of the band comes from a unique musical and cultural background, from ska to classical music, East Africa to Central America. Together, these diverse experience help shape the lyrics and music that the band members compose. Cloud Hats has performed throughout the Sacramento region and as far as the East Bay.
Blending an eclectic mix of pop, indie rock, R&B, and even gospel, Red White Elephant is the passion project of Julius Pasion, Nick Jensen, Cliff Yang, and Brenden Phung, four friends who wanted to merge their musical inclinations with killer hooks. Friends since the 3rd grade, Julius and Nick soon met Brenden and Cliff during their time at UC Davis and thus began the band. Becoming a mainstay in the local Davis music scene, Red White Elephant have performed for a variety of venues, from house shows to community festivals; from Picnic Day to Whole Earth Festival and the Yolo County Battle of the Bands, they always bring a unique energy to shows. Although they draw from many artists like Sufjan Stevens, Panic at the Disco, and Ben Folds, Red White Elephant writes their music with a disregard for genre, instead seeking to create their own, exciting sound.
