Take more chances and dance more dances! The University Union’s UNIQUE Programs is pleased to announce the annual event, Salsa Loca Live on Thursday, April 4th, 2019. The event will begin at 6pm in the University Union Ballroom. There will be free salsa dance lessons followed by a special concert with the Grammy-Award winning band, the Pacific Mambo Orchestra. This event is co-sponsored by Sacramento State’s Salsa Loca and Associated Students, Inc.
The Salsa Loca Club is a student-run organization at Sacramento State,that provides Latin dance lessons for the Sacramento community members. They offer lessons in Salsa, Bachata, Merengue, Kizomba, and Cumbia. To kick off the event, Salsa Loca will have a guest choreographer come in and teach easy to follow dance lessons.
Immediately following the lessons will be a performance by Pacific Mambo Orchestra (PMO), a band consisting of 4 trumpets, 4 trombones, 5 saxophones, piano, bass, timbales, congas, bongos and a female lead singer. They are known as the only active Latin Big Band in the West Coast. PMO won the Best Latin Tropical Album award during the 56th annual Grammy Awards in January 2014. They play a mix of different genres, including Salsa, Mambo, Latin, Jazz and Cha Cha.
The event is free to students and the general public.
