Description
The Tim Collom Gallery welcomes back artist Richard Stein for his solo exhibition “The Delta Paintings and Other Works” this October.
California’s agricultural fields and orchards—particularly when observed from an aerial perspective—can reveal textures, patterns and rhythms that are not as readily apparent at ground level. Stein’s paintings are mostly about his interpretations and manipulations of those textures, patterns and rhythms to create on a two-dimensional canvas what can be seen in life. To achieve this, he uses a careful compositional layout, a particular choice of colors, some math, thickened paint and a selection of certain tools to create the final image. His work is in both public and private collections and has been exhibited in various Sacramento Valley and North Coast locations.
“The Delta Paintings and Other Works” runs Oct. 8 – 31, 2019. There will be a preview reception on Thursday October 10, from 6 – 8 pm and an opening reception on Saturday, October 12, from 5:30 – 8:30 pm. Tim Collom Gallery is located at 915 20th Street in midtown Sacramento. The gallery is open 12:00 to 6:00 pm Tuesday through Friday, Saturday 1:00 to 6:00 pm and by appointment.
