Description
Let’s do it again. And while we’re at it, let’s support more local musicians.
Band Together – highlighting the work of local music venues and artists – returns at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 18. The second week of our series is being curated by Zero Forbidden Goals, a Sacramento-based group that works with local artists and musicians. ZFG in the past has also organized a series of flash mob-style open mics.
On the schedule is the Philharmonik, a Sacramento-based hip hop artist who “brings a revitalizing sense of urgency and musical depth to the shallows of the current mainstream music landscape,” his website says. Check out his bandcamp page for links to his albums.
Also on the schedule is MC Radioactive. He describes his work as “hip hop,” “positive rap” and “beatbox.” More of his music can be found here.
And last but not least, we’ll be joined by AndYes, a world-renowned and award-winning poet. AndYes mentors young people, was the Grand Slam Poetry Champion of Sacramento and is a first generation Cuban-American. He’s worked alongside many other Sacramento artists and represented the city at the National Poetry Slam.
We’ve got a lot more in store for local music fans in the weeks ahead, so please stay tuned. Until then, check out this incredible lineup Saturday night – and please support Sacramento’s music and arts scene.
