Description
Fabulous Fungi guided hike @ Deer Creek Hills Preserve
2nd Saturday February – May 2024
Our naturalist hikes (second Saturday of every month, Feb-May) start off with a meander through blue and interior live oak groves in search of the fruiting bodies of fungi โ aka mushrooms. Docents will share their discoveries from earlier in the week and help you understand the basics of mushroom identification. A short informational handout about other resources for mushroom ID will be provided. With only about 7% of mushroom species identified there is a whole new world to explore. A camera and hand lens will be helpful in this exploration. As always, sturdy shoes, a jacket, water and a snack are important things to bring. Please note Deer Creek Hills is a preserve and this is not a mushroom foraging trip. If you locate a mushroom on the outing please leave it in place and alert one of the docents, so everyone can appreciate it in its natural setting.
** Please note Deer Creek Hills is a preserve and this is not a mushroom foraging trip.
** Pre-register and pay before 6pm the day before
