Kristine’s paintings of rivers and mountains seek to illuminate the spiritual within the natural world and capture fleeting moments in time, sculpted with a brush. Her delicate application of gold, silver and copper leaf reflect the sacred relationships between the environment and ourselves.
Kristine feels nature expresses herself through burnished copper grasses and silver aspen trees moving in whispered unity. She has witnessed many changes in the California landscape due to the effects of time and weather, noting that some have changed very rapidly. Revisiting places she’s painted in the past, she has noticed this change unfold and hopes to preserve them in her paintings for future generations to draw inspiration from.
John Muir said “all the world seems a church and the mountains the alter.” For Kristine, painting is her path to enlightenment. Like John Muir, who saw California’s mountains as cathedrals and ventured into the landscape to capture their majesty in sketches and verse, she strives to honor nature’s sacred places through her art, illuminating the path to a deeper connection with the world.
