The tour will start at the historic Guild Theater, a hub of cultural events and performances.
This hour long tour offers a rich exploration of the neighborhood’s cultural and architectural heritage. The 40 Acres complex, located at the intersection of Broadway and 35th Street, was formerly known as the historic Woodruff Hotel and Guild Theater. Today, it serves as a vibrant mixed-use retail space housing several notable establishments.
The tour not only highlights key establishments but also delves into the broader history of Oak Park, Sacramento’s first streetcar suburb. Participants will learn about the neighborhood’s evolution, its significance during the Civil Rights era, and its ongoing revitalization efforts.
The Guild Theater: Originally built in 1915 as the Victor Theatre, this venue has been a cornerstone of Oak Park’s entertainment scene. After extensive restoration by the St. HOPE Development Corporation, it reopened in 2003 and now hosts films, live performances, and community events.
Underground Books: Situated at 2814 35th Street, this community-focused bookstore offers a curated selection of literature and serves as a cultural hub for residents and visitors alike.
Old Soul Co.: This cafΓ©, located within the 40 Acres complex, provides a cozy spot for refreshments. It’s within easy walking distance to other attractions in the area, making it a convenient stop during the tour.
Fixins Soul Kitchen: A popular dining spot within the complex, offering traditional soul food in a vibrant atmosphere.
World Class Faders: A barbershop that adds to the community-oriented feel of the complex.

Always prompt, professional and honest. Detailed estimate of expected repair costs and rationale. Quick turnaround. Dealerships should study Black Rock to learn how to do it right, and how to deliver excellent personal customer service. They are my βgo toβ for all my repair needs. Iβd give six stars if I could. The best real old fashioned mechanics around, who deal with every car brand and type. Dave and his team are top notch.
