Description
Chung-Kong Chan: Art Show and Chinese Calligraphy Demonstration
Join us for an art show of ceramics and calligraphy artworks by Chan Chung-Kong.
Besides the exhibition, Chan will be doing a Chinese calligraphy demonstration, and creating custom calligraphy works for a sliding scale materials fee: $5 โ $10.
Friday, April 12th, 4 pm โ 6 pm.
Saturday, April 13th, 10 am โ 2 pm.
Chan was born in Hong Kong in 1936, and studied fine arts at National Taiwan Normal University. As an educator, he spend several years teaching art at primary and secondary schools in Hong Kong, and later as an instructor in the Department of Extramural Studies, at The Chinese University where he taught courses on ceramics, calligraphy, sketching, and introduction to jewelry enameling. After migrating into the United States, he taught art in the Bay Area.
Chan has exhibited his artwork in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, Malaysia, and the United States.
Besides his career as artist and educator, Chan was also involved in the formation of several cooperatives that supplied ceramic materials.
